Disney’s nostalgic live-action remake and Tom Cruise’s action-packed franchise finale continue their box office dominance, with strong holds and impressive global milestones.

June 4, 2025 | The international box office continues to thrive as two major Hollywood titles — Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning — posted strong second-weekend numbers, pushing their global earnings past significant milestones.

Lilo & Stitch: A Nostalgic Powerhouse

Disney’s live-action reboot of the beloved 2002 animated classic is on a roll. The film added a stellar $113.1 million from 52 international markets this weekend, bringing its overseas total to $330.7 million and global cume to $610.8 million.

  • The highest-grossing non-local film of 2025 in Italy, Brazil, Mexico, and Thailand

Meanwhile, Paramount and Skydance’s Mission: Impossible 8 had a strong second weekend as well, pulling in $76.1 million internationally, just a 33% drop from its opening. Its international cume stands at $231.2 million, and worldwide total at $353.8 million.

The Tom Cruise-led spy thriller saw solid holds in:

  • Germany (-10%)
  • France (-21%)
  • Japan (-23%)

China debuted strongly this weekend, collecting $25.2 million and becoming:

  • The highest-grossing imported film on a single day in China in 2025
  • The fastest Hollywood film to hit RMB 100M in the country this year

  3. Japan – $18.5M

Other Highlights

  • Sony’s Karate Kid: Legends earned $12M from 43 international markets this weekend, bringing its global tally to $47M. Major markets like China, Australia, and Italy are yet to open.
  • Final Destination: Bloodlines added $14.4M from 75 markets, taking its international total to $117.6M, and $229.3M globally. It’s now Pakistan’s highest-grossing horror film of all time and WB’s fourth-highest grossing film there.
