England’s stand-in captain Harry Brook broke Indian legend Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs in a bilateral ODI series against Australia during the fifth and final ODI in Bristol. Brook smashed 72 off 52 balls, with three fours and seven sixes, at an impressive strike rate of 138.46.
With this knock, Brook became the top run-scorer of the series, amassing 312 runs across five matches at an average of 78.00, including a century and two fifties. His highest score in the series was 110, with a strike rate of 127.86, surpassing Kohli’s previous record of 310 runs in a five-match series against Australia in 2019.
This series also boosted Brook’s ODI career stats to 719 runs in 20 ODIs, averaging 39.94 with a century and five fifties, at a strike rate of 106.73.
In doing so, Brook also tied the record for the most consecutive 50-plus scores against Australia in ODIs as captain, joining Pakistan’s Imran Khan, Inzamam ul Haq, Babar Azam, and former England captain Eoin Morgan.
