‘He Gives His Best On The Field’, Says Jasprit Bumrah About Akashdeep

India’s star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, expressed his excitement about India’s hard-fought victory over Bangladesh in the second Test in Kanpur and his hopes for fellow pacer Akash Deep to continue developing after a stellar performance.

Despite rain and difficult playing conditions, India secured a 7-wicket win to sweep the two-match series 2-0, showcasing resilience and determination on the final day.

Bumrah was especially impressed with Akash Deep, who delivered fiery spells during the Test. Bumrah revealed that Akash often sought his advice before bowling, and Bumrah praised his passion and energy on the field.

He noted, “He gives his best on the field, and when he’s bowling, he has got a lot of heart.” Akash Deep ended the series with five wickets, making a strong impression with his ability to swing the ball and hit the deck hard.

Reflecting on the challenging conditions, Bumrah explained how difficult it was for bowlers to extract assistance from the surface, especially after the rain and the return of sunny weather. However, Bumrah relished the challenge, saying, “I like that challenge when you go against your nature and conditions are not favourable.” He described how the SG ball sometimes reverses in humid conditions, adding another layer of complexity for the bowlers.

Bumrah’s adaptability and fitness were crucial as he emerged as the joint-leading wicket-taker in the series with 11 wickets. Despite being hailed as a “magician” for his performances, Bumrah remains focused on his work rather than accolades, emphasizing the team’s collective achievement in overcoming difficult circumstances to complete the series sweep.

Following this success, India is set to engage in a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh before hosting New Zealand for a three-Test series later this month.
