Head coach Gary Kirsten Makes Strong Commitment To "Bring Pride Back" To Pakistan cricket
During a high-level “Connection Camp” organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Pakistan’s white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten pledged to bring back pride and success to Pakistan cricket. The camp aimed to establish a unified vision for the future of the team, especially after recent setbacks across formats.
Kirsten highlighted the need for professionalism, discipline, and unity among the players as key factors in rebuilding the team’s success.
He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s talented squad, stating that there is “no reason” why the team cannot succeed across all formats. He emphasized that proper processes need to be in place to create a robust system, ensuring competition for places and a unified approach to competing on the global stage.
In his statement, Kirsten said, “We want the Pakistan team to be as successful as it can be across all formats. The commitment to professionalism and bringing pride back into Pakistan cricket was discussed.”
The Connection Camp was attended by key players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and others, alongside red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood. They discussed strategies to help Pakistan regain its footing in international cricket.
This initiative comes after Pakistan’s struggles in recent series, including a Test series loss against Bangladesh and an early exit in the T20 World Cup following losses to the USA and India. Kirsten’s goal is to strengthen the team ahead of upcoming challenges, such as the Test series against England starting on October 7, 2024.
