"He's a positive guy.." : Sarfaraz Khan Praises Rohit Sharma Ahead Of Bangladesh Series
As the two-match Test series against Bangladesh approaches, Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan has expressed his admiration for team captain Rohit Sharma. Sarfaraz, who made his Test debut earlier this year against England, praised Rohit for his approachable demeanor and ability to make players feel comfortable, treating them like equals rather than juniors.
In a recent interview with Jio Cinema, Sarfaraz described Rohit as someone who embodies the qualities of an elder brother, saying, “He’s very different, makes you comfortable, and is like an elder brother to us. I enjoy playing with him. He never treats you like a junior. He’s a positive guy. The way he speaks, it boosts your confidence.”
Sarfaraz drew an interesting comparison, likening Rohit to Aamir Khan’s character in the film Lagaan, who unites a team. “For me, he’s Lagaan’s Aamir Khan. It feels like he’s part of your family,” Sarfaraz noted, highlighting the strong bond within the team under Rohit’s leadership.
The series against Bangladesh will kick off on September 19 in Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, followed by the second Test starting on September 27 in Kanpur. This will be the first Test assignment for new head coach Gautam Gambhir, who will be looking to secure a series win.
Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Indian Test side, which features several notable players. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant makes his return to Test cricket following his life-threatening accident in December 2022. Pacers Akash Deep and Yash Dayal have received their first national team call-ups, adding fresh talent to the squad.
As the series against Bangladesh draws near, Sarfaraz Khan’s comments reflect the positive atmosphere within the Indian team. With Rohit Sharma’s leadership and the return of key players, fans are looking forward to an exciting contest ahead.
