Himachal CM Sukhu assures help to kin of soldier killed in Ladakh accident

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India]: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday assured to extend all possible help to the kin of soldier Vijay Kumar, who lost his life in the Ladakh accident a day ago while expressing his condolences to the bereaved family members, the government informed through a press statement.

“Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has mourned the sad demise of soldier Vijay Kumar of village Nehra of Shimla Rural Sub-division who was martyred in an accident near Kiari in Ladakh on Saturday,” the statement informed.

He has also mourned the demise of eight other Indian Army soldiers who also sacrificed their life in this tragic incident,” it added.

“Chief Minister, while expressing his condolences to the bereaved family members assured to extend all the possible help to the grief-stricken family. He prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to departed souls and strength to the family members to bear this irreparable loss,” it added.

The army truck that the soldiers were travelling in skidded off a road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Leh district of Ladakh on Saturday.

Army Chief General Manoj Pande on Sunday expressed grief, and offered his condolences to the bereaved families, officials said.

President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, too, condoled the loss of lives in the accident.

According to officials, the accident occurred around 6.30 pm on Saturday.
