
Himachal ministers, officials donate Rs 45.43 lakh for disaster relief
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India]: The Himachal ministers and district administrative officials came forward on Saturday to extend a helping hand in the form of significant donations towards ‘Aapda Rahat Kosh,’ aiming to provide aid to the disaster-affected people in the state.
The Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, presented a cheque worth Rs 45.43 lakh to CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Shimla towards ‘Aapda Rahat Kosh’ on behalf of officers and officials of the Public Works Department, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a statement.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur was also present on the occasion.
The gesture emphasized the united commitment of the state’s leadership towards aiding those affected by natural calamities.
The CMO further inforned that Lahaul-Spiti Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Kumar, adding to the wave of support, delivered a cheque of Rs 5 lakh towards the ‘Aapda Rahat Kosh’ on the same occasion.
The contribution by the Deputy Commissioner was made on behalf of Trilokinath Temple in order to amplify the concerted efforts of both religious institutions and public officials in aiding disaster relief initiatives.
Earlier, on Friday, Sohan Lal Tyagi, representing Jiyana Industries Nalagarh, Solan, extended a heartfelt gesture by presenting a cheque of Rs. 1.11 lakh to CM Sukhu, said CMO.
This donation further strengthened the ‘Aapda Rahat Kosh’ and showcased the commitment of local businesses towards the well-being of the state.
Notably, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed a catastrophe this year with the monsoon causing massive infrastructural damage and claiming several lives.
The disaster-affected state is receiving aid in the form of donations and contributions from common people, ministers, employees from different sectors and even other state governments.
