ICC Chairman Jay Shah Launches “Donate Organs, Save Lives” Initiative Ahead Of 3rd ODI Between India And England

February 10, 2025: In a heartwarming and impactful move, International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah launched the awareness initiative “Donate Organs, Save Lives” on the occasion of the 3rd ODI between India and England. The match, scheduled for February 12th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will serve as the perfect platform to spread awareness about organ donation.

Shah took to his official social media handle to announce the initiative, highlighting the power of sports to inspire, unite, and create a lasting impact beyond the playing field. He urged fans and viewers to take a step toward giving the “gift of life” to those in need through organ donation, which can make a significant difference in many lives.

“On the occasion of the 3rd ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad on February 12th, we are proud to launch an awareness initiative – ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives.’ Sport has the power to inspire, unite, and create a lasting impact beyond the field. Through this initiative, we urge everyone to take a step towards giving the greatest gift of all – the gift of life. One pledge, one decision, can save multiple lives. Let’s come together and make a difference!” Shah posted, encouraging people to take action and help save lives.

This initiative adds more significance to the ongoing India vs England ODI series, where England is currently 2-0 behind. They have faced losses in both the T20I and ODI series so far, marking a difficult beginning for head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Jos Buttler.

In the third ODI, England won the toss and decided to bat first. Joe Root and Ben Duckett delivered impressive knocks to set a challenging total of 304, with contributions from Liam Livingstone and Jos Buttler as well. However, India chased down the target with ease, with Rohit Sharma scoring a brilliant 119 runs, supported by Shubman Gill’s 60 runs. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel’s contributions led India to a four-wicket victory.

This collaboration between the world of sports and the cause of organ donation aims to inspire fans worldwide to make a difference, emphasizing that one simple decision can change someone’s life forever.
