ICC ODI Rankings: Shubman Gill Retains No.1 Spot, Rohit Sharma Climbs To Third, Jadeja Enters Top 10

March 12, 2025: India’s triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has led to several significant changes in the latest ODI rankings, with several players from the victorious team making notable strides.

Star opener Shubman Gill has retained his position at the top of the ODI batter rankings, following a solid performance throughout the Champions Trophy. Gill’s consistency has been pivotal for India, and his place at number one reflects his outstanding form.

Meanwhile, India’s captain Rohit Sharma, who was awarded the Player of the Match in the final for his brilliant knock of 76 runs off 83 balls, has moved up two places to third in the batter rankings. Rohit’s crucial innings in the final helped India seal their third ICC Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets.

Other Indian players have also seen improvement in their rankings. Virat Kohli, who accumulated 218 runs in the tournament, has maintained his spot at fifth in the ODI batter rankings. India’s spinners have also seen a rise, with Kuldeep Yadav improving three places to third, thanks to his excellent seven-wicket haul in the tournament. Ravindra Jadeja, who claimed five wickets for India, has moved up three spots to the 10th position among ODI bowlers.

New Zealand’s players have also made strides in the rankings. Daryl Mitchell has climbed one spot to sixth, while Rachin Ravindra has made a massive leap of 14 spots, moving to 14th place in the ODI batter rankings. Glenn Phillips has also risen by six spots to 24th.

In the ODI bowler rankings, New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner was a standout performer in the Champions Trophy, claiming nine wickets, including two in the final. As a result, Santner has risen six spots to second in the ODI bowler rankings, now only behind Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana.

Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai continues to hold the top spot among ODI all-rounders, but he now faces fresh competition from New Zealand’s Santner, Bracewell, and Ravindra, who made significant moves in the rankings. Santner has climbed to fourth, Bracewell has risen seven spots to seventh, and Ravindra has gained eight places to move to eighth after his all-round performances, which included two centuries and three wickets, earning him the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award.

This surge in the rankings is a testament to India’s dominant performance at the Champions Trophy, where their all-round strength and consistency in both batting and bowling played a crucial role in their success. As they continue their journey toward the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, these rankings reflect India’s growing power and dominance in world cricket.
