With less than a month until the highly anticipated ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the tournament journey has officially begun with the launch of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour.
The tour kicked off in Dubai on September 3, where the coveted trophy was showcased against the backdrop of the city’s iconic landmarks, marking exactly 30 days before the tournament’s opening match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The trophy’s 24-hour journey across Dubai featured memorable stops at scenic locations, including Half Desert Dubai, the Dubai Frame, the Museum of the Future, and a breathtaking view of Dubai Sunrise. This dazzling start to the trophy tour set an exciting tone, building anticipation for what promises to be the most thrilling edition of the tournament yet.
Following its glamorous debut in Dubai, the trophy is set to continue its journey to India, landing in Bengaluru on September 6 at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIOC), a hub for nurturing young female talent in the sport. Fans will have the opportunity to see the trophy up close at Nexus Mall in Bengaluru on September 7 and 8, and later at Infinity Mall, Malad in Mumbai on September 14 and 15.
After its India leg, the Trophy Tour will proceed to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, before returning to the UAE for the tournament’s opening. Each stop along the tour is part of the ICC’s broader vision to engage cricket fans worldwide and amplify the reach of women’s cricket.
