IND vs ENG 2nd ODI: Rohit Sharma Hits Century While Kohli Falls Cheaply in India’s Chase

Rohit Sharma powers India’s chase of 305 with a blazing knock, but Virat Kohli’s early dismissal dampens spirits at Barabati Stadium.

February 9, 2025: India vs England 2nd ODI at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, saw Rohit Sharma nearing a scintillating century, anchoring India’s chase of England’s 305-run target. The Indian skipper dazzled with a mix of defence and aggression, reaching 100* off 76 balls, while Virat Kohli faltered, scoring just 5 off 8 deliveries. At 186/2 after 25.2 overs, India looks steady, but England continues to pose a challenge.

India’s chase began with a solid partnership between Rohit and Shubman Gill, who scored 60 off 52 balls before being dismissed. England’s bowling, led by Rashid, has kept the Indian batting lineup on its toes.

England earlier posted 304 all-out, thanks to contributions from Ben Duckett (65 off 56), Joe Root (69 off 72), and a late cameo by Liam Livingstone (41 off 32). Ravindra Jadeja starred with the ball for India, claiming 3/35 in 10 overs.

With 133 runs needed from 162 balls, all eyes are on Rohit Sharma to guide India to a memorable victory, with support from Shreyas Iyer, who is unbeaten on 8.
