IND vs ENG 2nd Test: India Set 608-Run Target for England
Birmingham, July 5:
India continued their utter dominance on Day 4 of the 2nd Test against England, with captain Shubman Gill smashing 161 off 162 balls to power India toward an unassailable lead nearing 600 runs at Edgbaston. Despite the monumental total, there was no declaration from the Indian camp deep into the final session.

Gill, who notched up his third Test century, was in majestic form — striking 15 fours and 6 sixes before falling to Shoaib Bashir, caught and bowled while attempting an aggressive lofted shot. His brilliant knock followed a string of solid partnerships, especially with Rishabh Pant, who added a quickfire 65 off 58 balls.
🎙️ “Gill was in beast mode today — laser-focused yet fearless,” noted one commentator.

With Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep’s heroics in the first innings, India were already in firm control. Day 4 has now ensured that England would need to attempt a record-breaking chase or bat out Day 5 for survival — a daunting task against India’s potent bowling attack.
England, who pulled off a 350-run chase in the 1st Test, are now staring at a monumental target, with no signs of mercy from the Indian camp.
