IND vs ENG Day 2: India Collapse From 430/3 to 471 All Out, England Fight Back With Stunning 7-Wicket Burst
June 21, 2025 | On a day that began with the promise of dominance for India, England pulled off a remarkable comeback, bundling out the hosts for 471 after they had been cruising at 430 for 3 in the second session. It was a classic Test match twist as India, riding on the back of brilliant centuries from Shubman Gill (147) and Rishabh Pant (102), dramatically lost seven wickets for just 41 runs, handing England a lifeline in the opening Test.

The highlight of the first session was the breathtaking stroke play from Pant, who brought up his ton with a trademark one-handed six. Gill, calm and calculated, showed maturity beyond his years in anchoring the innings before being dismissed for 147. The two batters combined to push India beyond the 400-run mark with apparent ease, even striking a flurry of boundaries before lunch.

However, what followed was a collapse that stunned the Hyderabad crowd.
From 430/3, India suddenly found themselves wobbling as England struck four quick blows before lunch, removing both centurions and Karun Nair for a duck. The second session offered little respite as Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse ran through the lower order with aggression and accuracy. Tongue finished with 3 wickets, including the perfect yorker to clean up Prasidh Krishna, ending the innings at 471.
England’s bowlers bowled with renewed energy after the second new ball, exploiting movement off the pitch and the overcast skies. While Ravindra Jadeja briefly fought back with a few boundaries, he too fell attempting a cut shot, chopping on for 23.
Just as the Indian fielders returned to defend their total, the skies opened up. The anticipated arrival of rain halted England’s innings before it even began, leaving the crowd and players disappointed after a day full of drama.

England will now begin their response trailing by 471 runs, but with the psychological edge of having pulled off a spirited fightback.
