IND vs ENG Headingley Test: Twin Tons from Pant, Rahul Put India in Command with 304-Run Lead on Day 4

Rishabh Pant’s historic twin centuries and KL Rahul’s fifth England ton power India to a dominant position as they aim to seal the series with a strategic declaration in sight.

Leeds, June 23, 2025India’s tour of England took a decisive turn at Headingley as the visitors tightened their grip on the fourth day of the Test match. Spearheaded by twin centuries from Rishabh Pant and a gritty hundred from KL Rahul, India surged ahead to a commanding lead of 304 runs at tea.

Pant, who came in under pressure at 92/3, played a fearless innings, reaching his second century of the match and becoming the first Indian batter to score centuries in both innings of a Test in England. His dismissal, attempting another aggressive shot against Bashir, was met with a standing ovation as he walked off after propelling India into a position of control.

KL Rahul, too, brought up his fifth international century on English soil, showcasing remarkable patience and poise. His 100 further consolidated India’s lead, while Karun Nair, returning to the Test side, broke his duck with a stylish reverse sweep to bring the lead to 303.

At the tea break, the scoreboard read 304 runs ahead, with India comfortably dominating the session with 145 runs added and both centurions at the crease for most of the period. Now, the focus shifts to how quickly India can accelerate and declare, leaving enough time to take 10 English wickets.

As the second new ball looms, England’s bowlers face a difficult evening ahead. India may look to push the lead to around 350–375 before unleashing their bowling attack, hoping to wrap up the game and the series.
