India-Japan Bolster Anti-Terrorism Ties: All-Party Delegation Highlights Unity in Tokyo Meetings

May 22, 2025: In a significant diplomatic engagement, India’s All Party Parliamentary Delegation met with key Japanese leaders in Tokyo on Thursday, reinforcing India’s unwavering stance against terrorism and fostering deeper bilateral cooperation on national security.

The delegation met Takashi Endo, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security, where India’s resolute commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms was strongly emphasized. According to a post by the Indian Embassy in Japan, Mr. Endo conveyed Japan’s solidarity with India in its ongoing fight against terrorism.

Later in the day, the Indian delegation also held discussions with Yoshihide Suga, Former Prime Minister of Japan, Vice President of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and Chairman of the Japan-India Association. During the meeting, Suga reiterated Japan’s steadfast support to India in its battle against cross-border terrorism, reinforcing the strong strategic partnership between the two democracies.

“India’s commitment to combating cross-border terrorism was reaffirmed,” the Indian Embassy in Japan posted on X. “H.E. Mr. Suga reiterated Japan’s strong commitment to support India in its fight against terrorism.”

Earlier, the Indian delegation also engaged with leading Japanese think tanks during an interactive session in Tokyo. The discussions focused on regional security challenges, particularly state-backed terrorism, and India’s policy of zero tolerance towards such threats. The think tank participants expressed strong support for India’s position and acknowledged the importance of coordinated global responses to terrorism.

In a parallel high-level diplomatic engagement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Takehiro Funakoshi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, for the Foreign Secretary–Vice Minister Dialogue in Tokyo. The meeting further deepened strategic discussions on regional and global security matters.

These engagements mark a significant moment in India-Japan bilateral relations, highlighting shared values and mutual commitment to ensuring peace and security in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
