India Launches Retaliatory Strikes on Pakistan, Hits Major Cities Including Lahore, Islamabad & Karachi

In a powerful counter-offensive after multiple drone and missile threats from Pakistan, India neutralizes an AWACS aircraft, downs fighter jets, and targets key locations in PoK and across Pakistan.

India has initiated a massive counter-attack on Pakistan, launching a series of precision strikes targeting Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot, and Karachi, following Pakistan’s failed attempts to target Indian military installations with drones and missiles late Thursday evening.

According to government sources, India’s response came swiftly after the S-400 air defence system neutralized eight Pakistani missiles over Jammu. Simultaneously, complete blackouts were reported across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, indicating a severe disruption in regional military command and control.

Pakistan Air Force Suffers Heavy Losses

In a major strategic blow to Pakistan, an airborne early warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force was shot down inside Punjab province, marking a critical degradation of its aerial surveillance capabilities.

Indian Air Defence units also brought down three Pakistani fighter jets, with one of them falling near Lathi, Pokhran in Rajasthan. These developments represent one of the most significant escalations between the two nuclear-armed neighbours in recent years.

Indian Air Defence Systems Fully Deployed

To guard against continued aerial threats, India has activated its entire spectrum of low-altitude defence systems. This includes:

  • S-400 missile systems for long-range interceptions
  • L-70 anti-aircraft guns, licensed from Swedish arms manufacturer Bofors
  • ZSU-23-4 Schilka systems, the Soviet-era self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon equipped with four 23mm autocannons

These systems are now strategically positioned near critical installations and border zones to thwart further Pakistani attempts at airspace violation.

Ground Situation & Further Developments

Explosions were also reported near the Khundroo ordnance depot in South Kashmir, although no casualties have been reported so far in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Army confirmed that military bases in Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot were targeted with missiles and drones, all of which were intercepted. “There were no losses,” the military’s official statement emphasized.
