India-Pakistan Conflict Live: Pakistani Drone Attack Targets 36 Sites With 300-400 Turkish-Made UAVs, Says Indian Army

As ‘Operation Sindoor’ enters a critical phase, Indian armed forces confirm Pakistan used Turkish Asisguard Songar drones to target 36 military locations across India; anti-drone systems successfully intercepted most.

New Delhi, May 9, 2025:
Amid continuing hostilities between India and Pakistan, the Indian armed forces revealed Friday that Pakistan launched hundreds of Turkish-made drones to target military sites along the western front, as tensions escalate following India’s retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor.

At a joint briefing with the Ministry of External Affairs, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi stated that Pakistan violated Indian airspace multiple times during the night of May 7 and 8, deploying 300-400 drones to attack 36 strategic locations.

“These attacks were aimed at Indian military infrastructure and were supported by heavy-calibre shelling along the LoC,” she said. Many of the drones were successfully neutralized using advanced kinetic and non-kinetic technologies, including anti-drone systems.

Preliminary analysis of drone debris suggests Pakistan used Asisguard Songar drones, manufactured in Turkey, indicating foreign support in Islamabad’s latest offensive. India’s S-400, Barak-8, Akash missiles, and DRDO’s anti-drone units played a key role in the robust response.

Meanwhile, the CRPF has suspended all internal transfers and postponed training to keep personnel ready for border duty. Over 2,400 CRPF troops have been deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, joining forces with the BSF and Army.
