New York [US], November 29: India has been re-elected to the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) for the 2025-2026 term, reinforcing its commitment to promoting global peace and stability. The announcement was made on Thursday via a post on X by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations.
The post read: “India has been re-elected to the UN Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) for 2025-2026. As a founding member and major contributor to @UNPeacekeeping, India is committed to continuing its engagement with the PBC to work towards global peace and stability.”
India has been an active member of the Peacebuilding Commission since its inception in December 2005. As a founding member and a significant contributor to UN peacekeeping efforts, India’s involvement in the PBC highlights its enduring dedication to conflict resolution and peacebuilding in affected regions.
The Peacebuilding Commission is an intergovernmental advisory body established in 2005 to assist conflict-affected countries in their peacebuilding processes. It works closely with the UN General Assembly, the Security Council, and other UN entities to promote sustainable peace.
