India Set To Tour Australia For ODI And T20I Series In October Ahead of 2026 T20 World Cup
March 31, 2025: India is all set to embark on an exciting and crucial white-ball tour of Australia later this year, which will feature three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and five T20 Internationals (T20Is). This tour is expected to be a key test for both teams as they prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The tour will kick off with the ODI series starting on October 19 in Perth. The second ODI will be played at the iconic Adelaide Oval on October 23, while the final match of the 50-over series will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on October 25. Historically, Australia has had the upper hand in ODIs against India, having won 84 of the 152 encounters, while India has won 58, with 10 matches ending with no result. This statistic reflects the fierce and competitive nature of the rivalry between these two cricketing giants.
After the ODI series, the focus will shift to the shortest format, with India and Australia set to clash in five T20Is across various venues. The series will commence in Canberra, followed by the second game in Melbourne on October 31. The third match will take place in Hobart on November 2, the fourth in Gold Coast on November 6, and the final match in Brisbane on November 8.
In T20Is, India holds a dominant record over Australia, with 20 wins out of 32 encounters. Australia has managed to secure 11 victories, while one game ended without a result. This will be a thrilling series as both teams aim to fine-tune their squads and strategies ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The 2026 T20 World Cup will be an important milestone for both nations, as India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the global event. With Australian pitches presenting a tough challenge for the Indian side, this series will serve as crucial preparation for India to adapt to the conditions. At the same time, Australia will also be looking to test their squad and make adjustments before the tournament.
The upcoming white-ball tour of Australia promises to be a thrilling contest, with both teams eager to prove their dominance in both formats as they build up to the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026.
