London, July 12, 2025:
Team India showcased poise and power on Day 3 of the 3rd Test against England at Lord’s as Rishabh Pant broke Sir Viv Richards’ long-standing record for the most sixes against England in Test cricket, while KL Rahul stood tall with an unbeaten 96, anchoring the innings in sublime fashion.

India resumed the day at 193/3 and added over 50 runs in the first hour without losing a wicket. The partnership between Rahul and Pant flourished under pressure, especially as they navigated through England’s varied pace and spin attack with confidence.
Pant, who returned to the crease despite a painful finger injury sustained on Day 1, smashed a towering six over long-off off Shoaib Bashir to surpass West Indian legend Viv Richards. This audacious strike also brought up his half-century in style — his sixth against England in Tests — drawing loud cheers from Indian fans present at the iconic venue.
Earlier in the day, Pant had also deposited a short delivery from Ben Stokes over the fine-leg boundary for six to reach his fifty off just 86 balls, showcasing his trademark counter-attacking style. However, the southpaw continued to receive medical attention during the innings due to his injured finger, underlining the grit behind his flamboyant knock.

At the other end, KL Rahul was the picture of patience and timing. The opener unfurled a hat-trick of boundaries against Brydon Carse, blending elegance with aggression. His strokes — two on the leg side and one past cover — were a testament to his form and fitness. He guided India past the 200-run mark in the 57th over and continued to inch toward his century with unwavering focus.
India stood at 245/3 in 64.1 overs at the time of the latest update, trailing England’s 387 by 142 runs. The new ball had been changed by the umpires in hopes of reviving England’s bowling effort, but the Indian duo looked well set to narrow the deficit further.
