India vs Germany Hockey SFs: Full Schedule for Day 11 at Paris Olympics

The Indian men’s hockey team is set to take on world champions Germany in the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics 2024. Meanwhile, India’s golden boy, Neeraj Chopra, will start his title defense in the men’s javelin throw event on Tuesday.

Hockey Showdown: India vs Germany

Led by Harmanpreet Singh, the Indian hockey team has showcased a spirited performance in Paris 2024. Despite being down to 10 men in the first half of their quarter-final match against Great Britain, India displayed a defensive masterclass to secure their spot in the semi-finals. India, the most successful hockey nation in Olympic history with 12 medals (eight gold, one silver, and three bronze), last featured in the Olympic final in 1980 in Moscow. The semi-final match against Germany will be played at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium at 10:30 PM IST.

Neeraj Chopra’s Javelin Defense

Neeraj Chopra, the reigning Olympic and world champion, will compete in Group B of the men’s javelin throw qualification round starting at 3:20 PM. His compatriot, Kishore Jena, will throw in Group A starting at 1:50 PM. Athletes need to achieve a mark of 84.00m to automatically qualify for the final, scheduled for Thursday.

Other Key Events for India

In addition to hockey and athletics, Indian athletes will compete in wrestling and table tennis on this action-packed day.

  • Wrestling: Vinesh Phogat, a gold medalist at the Asian and Commonwealth Games, will compete in the women’s 50kg freestyle division. She faces a tough challenge against Japan’s reigning Olympic champion, Yui Susaki, in the round of 16.
  • Table Tennis: The Indian men’s table tennis team, consisting of Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, and Manav Thakkar, seeded 14th, will take on top seeds China in the men’s team event in the round of 16 at 1:30 PM.
