India secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the second and final Test at Green Park, Kanpur, thanks to an exceptional half-century by opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings.
Jaiswal’s consistent performances with the bat earned him the Man of the Match award. India’s win completed a clean sweep of the series.
Chasing just 95 runs to win, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal started the innings. Rohit was dismissed for just 8 runs, with India’s score at 18. Shubman Gill came in next but managed only 6 runs before being sent back, leaving India at 34/2.
Virat Kohli then joined Jaiswal at the crease. India reached 50 runs in the 7th over as Kohli smashed a boundary off Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Jaiswal scored a quick-fire 51 off 45 balls, including 8 fours and a six, before being dismissed. Kohli remained unbeaten on 29, alongside Rishabh Pant (4), guiding India to victory.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh resumed at 26/2, needing to avoid an innings defeat. Despite some resistance from Shadman Islam (50) and Mushfiqur Rahim (37), they were bowled out for 146, setting a target of 95 for India. Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin each took 3 wickets to dismantle the visitors’ lineup.
India’s victory by seven wickets marked a successful conclusion to the Test series, with Jaiswal’s contribution standing out in both innings.
