Indonesia Stands Firm with India Against Terrorism: “We Understand the Pain”

May 29, 2025: Indonesia has expressed strong solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism, as top leaders of the Indonesian National Mandate Party (PAN) held a crucial meeting with a visiting Indian All-Party Parliamentary Delegation.

Eddy Soeparno, Chairperson of PAN and Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Assembly, emphasized Indonesia’s firm stance against terrorism. “Indonesia has also been a victim of terrorism. We support peace, global cooperation, and are strongly against terrorist activities,” Soeparno said during the meeting.

He added that both nations shared productive discussions on strengthening economic ties, building parliamentary cooperation, and upholding global peace.

Highlighting the importance of unity in international forums, Soeparno stated, “As part of the BRICS framework, Indonesia will continue to collaborate with countries like India to maintain peace and harmony.”

He also condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, affirming Indonesia’s support for India and all nations combating terrorism. “We understand the impact of such violence. Religion and race can never justify terrorism,” he noted.

Soeparno also emphasized the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), calling for trust-building among Islamic nations and a collective stand against terrorism.

In a statement shared online, the Indian Embassy in Jakarta confirmed the meeting and said that PAN leaders offered condolences for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and expressed solidarity with India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism.

The Indian delegation is led by MP Sanjay Kumar Jha and includes MPs from multiple political parties such as BJP, TMC, CPI-M, and Congress. The delegation is visiting several countries — including Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and now Indonesia — as part of India’s global outreach initiative to counter Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
