Inside Israel’s National AI Plan: $13M Data Drive to Power the Future
July 13, 2025: In a bold move to accelerate artificial intelligence research and development, the Israeli government has launched a NIS 44 million (USD 13.2 million) funding initiative to create and open high-quality public databases. The effort is a joint venture led by the Israel Innovation Authority, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The goal of the initiative is to build a strong, accessible data infrastructure across key sectors such as agrotech, healthcare, climate, and security. By making diverse and high-quality datasets available to startups and researchers, the government hopes to drive innovation and foster cutting-edge AI solutions.

“Data is the raw material for training artificial intelligence models that create groundbreaking solutions in many fields,” said Dror Bin, CEO of the Innovation Authority. The initiative is a major step in advancing Israel’s national AI plan, which emphasizes collaboration, up-to-date information, and unified data sources.
A key focus of the program is inclusivity, with specific efforts to involve peripheral communities and promote nationwide participation in the tech-driven economy. The government believes that by democratizing access to data, it can empower more regions to become hubs of innovation.
