IPL 2025: ₹27 Cr Rishabh Pant Fails Again as PBKS Rattles LSG Top Order
April 1, 2025: Lucknow:
Rishabh Pant’s return to IPL leadership has hit another speed bump. The ₹27 crore LSG skipper fell cheaply once again as Lucknow Super Giants slumped to 39/3 in the powerplay — now the lowest team score in the first six overs this IPL season.
The carnage began early after Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mitch Marsh departed for a golden duck in the opening over, followed by Aiden Markram’s stumps being dismantled by Lockie Ferguson — the Kiwi speedster brought in specifically to tackle LSG’s batting firepower.

Pant walked in under pressure and was dismissed for just 3 runs, miscuing a shot to Yuzvendra Chahal off Glenn Maxwell’s bowling. His lean patch continues, drawing concern over his spot in the top order.

At the 7-over mark, LSG were 49/3 with Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni trying to rebuild the innings. Pooran, targeted by Ferguson due to his previous record against the pacer, managed to survive and counter with a few boundaries.
