IPL 2025: Angkrish, Russell’s Blistering Knocks Power KKR to 206 Runs Against Rajasthan Royals

May 4, 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a batting masterclass at Eden Gardens as young talent Angkrish Raghuvanshi and power-hitter Andre Russell led the team to a formidable total of 206/4 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their IPL 2025 encounter.

After being asked to bat first, KKR lost an early wicket but quickly regained momentum through a composed and aggressive partnership between Angkrish and the middle order. The 19-year-old Angkrish, continuing his breakout season, impressed once again with clean strokeplay and fearless intent, scoring a crucial 44 off 31 balls. His innings featured a mix of elegant drives and confident lofted shots, keeping the scoreboard ticking.

As the innings progressed, Andre Russell took center stage, unleashing his trademark explosive power in the final overs. Russell hammered an unbeaten 57 off just 25 deliveries, clearing the ropes multiple times and rattling the Royals’ bowlers under pressure. His late onslaught pushed KKR well past the 200-run mark and electrified the home crowd.

Rajasthan’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, especially in the death overs. Their spinners were targeted by both batters, and even the pacers couldn’t stem the tide as KKR accelerated in the last five overs.

With a challenging target of 207 ahead, the onus is now on the Royals’ top order, including Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson, to lead a formidable chase.

KKR, currently in the top half of the table, will look to defend the total and consolidate their position, while RR will aim to bounce back with a strong batting reply.
