Backed by a father’s sacrifice and tireless hard work, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fairytale rise from Samastipur to IPL stardom is a story of dreams, grit, and history-making glory.
Jaipur, April 29, 2025 —
Vaibhav Suryavanshi — a name Indian cricket fans are unlikely to forget. At just 14 years and 32 days old, the Rajasthan Royals prodigy stunned the world by slamming a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur, becoming the youngest ever centurion in T20 cricket and setting a new Indian record for the fastest IPL hundred.
Vaibhav’s journey from the small town of Samastipur, Bihar, to the glittering stage of the IPL is the stuff of cricketing legends. His father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, sold their farmland to invest completely in his son’s cricketing dream, determined to leave no Plan B. Hours of hard training — including facing 600 deliveries daily in Patna since the age of 10 — shaped Vaibhav’s core strength and technique.

Despite his youthful baby-faced looks, Vaibhav’s poise at the crease reflects years of intense preparation. Facing seasoned net bowlers older than him, fueled by homemade meals packed in 10 tiffin boxes by his father, the boy honed his skills with unrelenting focus.
The IPL 2025 auction was the first glimpse of his potential when Rajasthan Royals picked him up for Rs 1.1 crore, making headlines as the youngest player bought. He justified the faith spectacularly — beginning his IPL journey with a six off Shardul Thakur on debut — and now, with 151 runs in just three matches, he averages 75.50 at a blistering strike rate of 222.05.
Born on March 27, 2011, Vaibhav was already making waves in domestic cricket. At 12 years and 284 days, he debuted in first-class cricket for Bihar, and later smashed a 58-ball century for India U19 against Australia. He also impressed in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, scoring 176 runs in 5 matches.
What began with sacrifice and a dream in rural Bihar has now rewritten the IPL history books — and Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s journey has only just begun.
