IPL 2025: DC vs LSG – Ashutosh Sharma’s Heroics Seal Last-Over Thriller as Delhi Capitals Pull Off Historic Chase

From 65/5 to chasing down 210, Ashutosh Sharma’s unbeaten 66 powers DC to a dramatic one-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam.

Visakhapatnam, March 25: In one of the most breathtaking chases in IPL history, Delhi Capitals (DC) pulled off a nail-biting one-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), thanks to a sensational knock from Ashutosh Sharma, who announced himself with a match-winning unbeaten 66 off 31 balls.

The Visakhapatnam crowd witnessed a rollercoaster of emotions as DC chased down a mammoth 210-run target, recovering from a hopeless position of 65/5. The 26-year-old Ashutosh turned the game on its head with fearless strokeplay, capped off with a towering six on the final ball to seal victory.

LSG’s bowling unit, despite missing key pace options, had DC reeling early. Shardul Thakur dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk in the opening over, and DC quickly slipped to 6/2. Contributions from Faf du Plessis (29) and Axar Patel (22) revived hopes, but both fell in quick succession, leaving DC in deep trouble.

Ashutosh then partnered with Tristan Stubbs (34) and later Vipraj Nigam, who smashed a quickfire 39 off 15 balls, to keep DC in the hunt. With 42 runs needed from the final 24 balls, LSG struck back by removing Vipraj immediately after a timeout.

But Ashutosh was not done. He launched Ravi Bishnoi for two sixes and a four in the 18th over, then kept his composure in a tense penultimate over that saw Kuldeep Yadav run out. With 6 runs needed off the final over, Shahbaz held his nerve to rotate strike and let Ashutosh finish the job with a monster six down the ground.

Earlier, after being asked to bat, LSG looked set for a 220+ score, riding on Mitchell Marsh’s explosive 72 off 36 and Nicholas Pooran’s 61 off 28. The pair added 87 runs for the second wicket, smashing DC’s bowling attack to all corners.

Pooran, especially, was in devastating form, hitting four consecutive sixes off Stubbs in the 13th over. But Mitchell Starc’s clever reverse swing brought DC back into the game by cleaning up Pooran and halting the onslaught.

A late cameo by *David Miller (22)**, including two last-ball sixes, pushed LSG to 209/8, a total that looked more than enough—until Ashutosh scripted a fairytale finish.
