IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans Thrash Rajasthan Royals by 58 Runs in Dominant Home Victory
Ahmedabad, April 9: The Gujarat Titans (GT) delivered a complete performance on Wednesday night, hammering the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 58 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Powered by Sai Sudharsan’s brilliant 82 and a disciplined all-round bowling effort, the Titans secured a convincing victory in front of their home crowd.
After being asked to bat first, Gujarat posted a formidable 217/6. Sudharsan was the star, smashing 82 off 53 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. He was ably supported by Shahrukh Khan (36 off 22) and *Rahul Tewatia (24 off 12)**, while Rashid Khan added late fireworks with a quick 12 off 4.
Despite losing Shubman Gill early for 2, Sudharsan anchored the innings. His 80-run partnership with Jos Buttler (36 off 25) and a 62-run stand with Shahrukh helped Gujarat stay on top throughout.
RR’s bowlers struggled under pressure, with Tushar Deshpande (2/53) and Maheesh Theekshana (2/54) picking two wickets each, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma chipped in with one apiece.
In reply, Rajasthan’s chase never really got going. GT pacer Arshad Khan removed Yashasvi Jaiswal early, while Nitish Rana followed soon after. Skipper Sanju Samson (41) and Riyan Parag (26) tried to build resistance, but wickets fell at regular intervals.
Kulwant Khejroliya, brought in as an impact sub, dismissed Parag and triggered a collapse. Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 3/24, while Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore took two wickets each. Shimron Hetmyer fought a lone battle with a gritty 52 off 33, but it wasn’t enough.
RR were bowled out for 159 in 19.2 overs, giving GT a comfortable 58-run win — a performance that highlighted their depth in both batting and bowling departments.
