IPL 2025: KL Rahul’s Heroic 93 Lifts Delhi Capitals to Fourth Straight Win Over RCB in Bengaluru

Despite Top-Order Collapse, KL Rahul and Stubbs Rescue Delhi With a 111-Run Stand as Capitals Remain Unbeaten in IPL 2025

Bengaluru, April 11: KL Rahul produced a batting masterclass to guide Delhi Capitals (DC) to their fourth consecutive win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by six wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.

Chasing a tricky 164-run target, Delhi were reeling at 58/4 inside nine overs after early dismissals of Faf du Plessis (2), Jake Fraser-McGurk (7), Abhishek Porel (7) and captain Axar Patel (15). However, KL Rahul stood tall, anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls, including seven fours and six sixes.

He found the ideal partner in Tristan Stubbs, and together they stitched an unbroken 111-run partnership, guiding Delhi home with 13 balls to spare. Stubbs remained unbeaten on 38 off 28 deliveries, providing crucial support in a high-pressure situation.

Rahul, calm under pressure, paced his innings with precision—reaching his fifty in 37 balls before accelerating in the final phase. Delhi wrapped up the chase in 17.5 overs, finishing at 169/4.

RCB’s Innings Recap:

Earlier, Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl. Phil Salt gave RCB a fiery start, smashing 37 off 17 balls, including 30 runs in a single over from Mitchell Starc, before getting run out in the 4th over.

Despite the early momentum, RCB’s innings stuttered after Mukesh Kumar and debutant Vipraj Nigam triggered a collapse. Virat Kohli (22), Devdutt Padikkal (1), and Liam Livingstone (4) fell in quick succession.

Rajat Patidar tried to rebuild with a fighting 25, but wickets kept tumbling. Kuldeep Yadav’s googly outfoxed Jitesh Sharma (3) and later dismissed Patidar, putting Delhi in control.

Late fireworks came from Tim David, who smashed 37 off 20 balls*, including 32 runs in the last two overs, helping RCB reach a respectable 163/7.

Bowling Highlights:

For Delhi, Kuldeep Yadav (2/17) and Vipraj Nigam (2/18) were exceptional, breaking RCB’s momentum. Mohit Sharma and Mukesh Kumar picked up a wicket each, keeping the middle overs tight. Though Axar Patel and Mitchell Starc went wicketless, Delhi’s collective bowling effort ensured a manageable chase.

Points Table Update:

With this win, Delhi Capitals remain unbeaten in IPL 2025, moving to second place with four wins from four games. RCB, on the other hand, continues to struggle with inconsistency.

Brief Score:

RCB: 163/7 (Phil Salt 37, Tim David 37*; Kuldeep Yadav 2/17)
DC: 169/4 in 17.5 overs (KL Rahul 93*, Tristan Stubbs 38*; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 2/26)
