Earlier, Delhi Capitals put up a competitive 183/6 in their 20 overs after being sent in to bat. KL Rahul anchored the innings with a fluent 77 off 51 balls, smashing 6 fours and 3 sixes. Despite losing Jake Fraser-McGurk in the very first over, Rahul and Abhishek Porel (33 off 20) added crucial runs at the top.
DC captain Axar Patel contributed a quick 21 before falling to Noor Ahmad, while Sameer Rizvi chipped in with 20. However, CSK’s disciplined death bowling, led by Matheesha Pathirana and Khaleel Ahmed, pulled things back. Pathirana was particularly impressive, conceding just 13 runs in his last two overs and picking a wicket. Khaleel ended with 2/25 in his four.
Fielding brilliance was also on display, as Ravindra Jadeja executed a sharp run-out of Ashutosh Sharma with a direct throw, whipped off smartly by MS Dhoni.
With 184 to chase, CSK will need a steady hand and some explosive hitting later on. Devon Conway and captain Gaikwad have a tough task ahead as they face a fiery Delhi bowling attack led by Mitchell Starc and Mukesh Kumar.
Stay tuned for all live updates as CSK look to extend their strong record at Chepauk.
