IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Share Emotional Video Announcing Jasprit Bumrah’s Return After Injury

April 6, 2025: Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced the long-awaited return of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has been sidelined due to injury. Bumrah, who sustained an injury during the Sydney Test earlier this year, has been absent from MI’s squad for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season so far. However, with an emotional announcement from his wife and sports anchor Sanjana Ganesan, the franchise confirmed his comeback.

The emotional video shared by MI features Sanjana narrating a bedtime story to their son, Angad, and it reflects Bumrah’s journey in cricket. “Angad, let me tell you a story. In 2013, there was a cub who entered this jungle. A jungle full of runs, sixers and boundaries. Where everyone was scared, he showed courage. Over the years, he fought many battles. He fought for survival, for his pride. He won. He lost, but never gave up! These battles left him with scars. But these scars didn’t stop him. Once a cub, now the lion. The lion is back! He is back to be the king of this jungle again,” Sanjana says in the heartfelt video.

This comeback is highly anticipated as Bumrah is one of MI’s key players, having played a crucial role in their five IPL victories. The pacer had to go through two match simulations after getting clearance from the Centre of Excellence (previously known as the National Cricket Academy). It is still unclear if Bumrah will be available for MI’s next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 7 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, but his return is a major boost for MI’s squad.

MI has struggled in the early part of the season, losing three of their four matches. The team will be hoping that Bumrah’s presence will help them get back on track in their upcoming matches, including the away clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 13.
