Hyderabad, March 28: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clinched a commanding five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a high-octane IPL 2025 clash at the Uppal Stadium, thanks to explosive knocks from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh, and a match-defining spell by Shardul Thakur.

Chasing a target of 191, LSG lost Aiden Markram early, but a blistering 116-run partnership between Pooran (70 off 26) and Marsh (52 off 31) stole the show. Finishing touches were added by Abdul Samad (22* off 8) as LSG chased down the total in just 16.1 overs.

“It was a good wicket again, but they batted really well. Their bowlers didn’t let us off the hook. You always need someone to anchor the innings—like Ishan did the other day—but we missed that today,” Cummins said.

He praised the planning of the LSG bowling unit and admitted SRH’s powerful lineup failed to deliver at crucial moments.

“We’ve got eight batters, but it’s about making an impact. It’s a long tournament. We’ll move on and look to bounce back quickly,” the Aussie skipper added.

With this victory, LSG strengthened their standing in the league table, while SRH will be keen to regroup and correct their course in the matches ahead.
