IPL 2025: Prabhsimran Stars as PBKS Crush LSG by 37 Runs to Climb to Second in Points Table

Ayush Badoni’s valiant 74 goes in vain as Lucknow Super Giants crumble under pressure chasing 237 in Dharamshala.

Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), May 5:
Punjab Kings (PBKS) stormed to the second spot on the IPL 2025 points table with a commanding 37-run win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Sunday. A blistering knock of 91 runs by Prabhsimran Singh and a fiery 3-wicket spell by Arshdeep Singh were the highlights as LSG fell short despite a fighting half-century from Ayush Badoni.

After being put in to bat, PBKS posted a mammoth 236/5, driven by Prabhsimran’s explosive 91 (45 balls, 6 fours, 7 sixes) and valuable contributions from Shreyas Iyer (45) and Shashank Singh. The Punjab top-order tore into the LSG bowling, especially targeting Mayank Yadav, who went for 60 runs in his four overs.

PBKS reached the 200-run mark in the 18th over, with Shashank and Prabhsimran plundering 26 runs off Avesh Khan in one over. Singh missed out on a century, falling for 91 in the penultimate over.

In reply, LSG stumbled early, losing Mitchell Marsh (0) and Aiden Markram (13) inside three overs. Arshdeep Singh was lethal in the powerplay, later dismissing Nicholas Pooran (6) to leave LSG reeling at 27/3.

Despite a small recovery led by Badoni (74 off 40) and Abdul Samad (45 off 24), who stitched an 81-run stand, LSG were always behind the required rate. Rishabh Pant and David Miller failed to convert starts, and with 49 needed off the final over, the chase ended at 199/7.

Arshdeep’s 3/16, along with disciplined spells from Omarzai (2/33), Chahal, and Jansen, sealed the win for PBKS. With this result, PBKS now have 15 points from 11 games, while LSG remain seventh with 10 points.

Brief Score:
PBKS 236/5 (Prabhsimran Singh 91, Shreyas Iyer 45; Akash Singh 2/30)
LSG 199/7 (Ayush Badoni 74, Abdul Samad 45; Arshdeep Singh 3/16)
Result: PBKS won by 37 runs
