May 7, 2025: The highly anticipated IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC), scheduled for May 8 in Dharamsala, is likely to be postponed or cancelled due to escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan. The match, which was set to take place at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, faces uncertainty after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor,’ a military operation targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

A top source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared that the IPL match could be rescheduled or called off pending clearance from the Indian government. The close proximity of Dharamsala to the border, coupled with the evening timing of the match under floodlights, is a key concern, as it could provide an advantage to Pakistan, according to the source.

If the PBKS vs DC match is cancelled, both teams would receive one point each. This scenario could significantly affect Delhi Capitals’ chances of qualifying for the playoffs, as they are currently in a tight race for a spot in the top four. Should the match be rescheduled, it is likely to take place on a Saturday, with minimal impact on the overall IPL schedule.

Additionally, the clash between PBKS and Mumbai Indians (MI) is also under threat, with Mumbai’s location raising similar security concerns.

The potential disruption of this IPL fixture follows the military escalation following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, leading to the execution of ‘Operation Sindoor‘ by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7.

Fans and the cricketing community are eagerly awaiting further updates on the status of the PBKS vs DC match.
