IPL 2025: RCB Head Coach Provides Update On Virat Kohli’s Injury Ahead Of Match Against Mumbai Indians

April 3, 2025: In the latest update from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), head coach Andy Flower provided reassuring news regarding Virat Kohli’s injury, which he sustained during the team’s recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against the Gujarat Titans (GT).

The incident occurred when Kohli attempted to stop a boundary off Sai Sudharsan’s bat in the 12th over of GT’s run chase. As the ball passed through his hands at deep mid-wicket, Kohli appeared to be in discomfort. The RCB physio immediately attended to him, but Kohli continued fielding after receiving treatment.

Despite the injury scare, Flower confirmed in the post-match press conference that Kohli is “fine” and will be ready for RCB’s upcoming clash. “Virat looks fine, he’s okay,” Flower said, easing concerns about the star batter’s condition for the next match.

Kohli, who has been in fine form this season, failed to make an impact in the match against GT, scoring just 7 runs from 6 balls before being dismissed by Arshad Khan. This was the first time in IPL 2025 that Kohli did not cross the 40-run mark, with his departure occurring while attempting a pull shot that resulted in him getting caught at deep backward square leg.

Following Kohli’s dismissal, RCB’s batting continued to falter, with both Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt falling early in the power play. The team, who had previously dominated in their opening games against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), suffered their first defeat of the season, losing to Gujarat Titans. The loss has put RCB in third place in the IPL 2025 points table.

RCB will now shift their focus to their next challenge, facing Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 7 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The team will be hoping to bounce back from their first defeat and secure another win as they continue their campaign in the ongoing season.
