May 17, 2025: The much-anticipated IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has hit a weather-induced hurdle, as heavy rain in Bengaluru has delayed the toss at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.

Fans, who were eagerly waiting to see RCB take on KKR in a crucial post-resumption fixture, were left disappointed as dark clouds loomed over the venue. As per weather forecasts, showers were expected in the evening, and unfortunately, the predictions came true just ahead of the scheduled toss time at 7:00 PM IST.

Both teams arrived at the stadium and began warm-up routines under cloudy skies. However, just before the toss, rain began to pour down, forcing ground staff to quickly cover the pitch and outfield. With playoff spots at stake, the outcome of this game is vital, especially for KKR, who cannot afford a washout at this stage.

RCB, on the other hand, remain in a relatively comfortable position on the points table. Even in the case of a no-result, they are likely to retain their spot in the top four. For KKR, who currently sit at 11 points with just two matches left, a shared point would limit their qualification chances.

The IPL 2025 season had only recently resumed after a temporary suspension due to geopolitical tensions in the region. With the playoffs inching closer, any match lost to weather could significantly shake up the standings.

As of now, officials are monitoring the situation and will provide further updates based on the rain’s progress. Fans are hoping for a break in the showers to ensure at least a shortened match can be played.
