April 20, 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first against Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) in an exciting IPL 2025 clash on Sunday.
The match, being held at the iconic Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, promises to be a high-scoring affair, with both teams coming off mixed results in the season so far. Opting to bowl first, Patidar is banking on early breakthroughs from his pace attack and the familiarity with home conditions to give RCB the upper hand in the chase.
“We’d like to have a go with the ball first. The pitch looks good, but with dew coming in later, chasing will be an advantage,” said Patidar during the toss presentation. “The boys are in good shape and we’re looking forward to a strong performance.”
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer said he would have opted to bowl first as well but remained optimistic. “We’ve got a solid batting line-up. If we put runs on the board, the pressure will be on them,” Iyer said.
With both teams fighting for vital points in the mid-table scramble, all eyes are on this showdown between Patidar’s youthful RCB squad and Iyer’s experienced PBKS outfit.
