IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant Lauds Team Effort After LSG’s Gritty Win Over Mumbai Indians

Pant credits Mitchell Marsh’s explosive start, Shardul Thakur’s control under pressure, and Digvesh Rathi’s standout spell as LSG continues to build momentum in IPL 2025.

Lucknow, April 5: After guiding his team to a well-fought 12-run win against the Mumbai Indians (MI), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant commended his side’s balanced performance, highlighting key contributions from Mitchell Marsh, Shardul Thakur, and young spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Pant emphasized that the team is learning and adapting with each game. “One thing is sure — the wicket is playing really well. We need to figure out what’s working for us and what is not. Very simple. Earlier we wanted a different kind of wicket, but whatever is offered to us, we take it and play,” said the LSG captain.

Mitchell Marsh set the tone for LSG’s batting with a power-packed 60 off just 31 balls, including nine fours and two sixes. His aggressive opening stand of 76 runs with Aiden Markram gave the team crucial early momentum.

“When a player like Mitch [Marsh] gives us a start like that, it gives time to the middle-order. That’s the idea — we want to play according to the situation, and the kind of start we got put us in a good place,” Pant said.

Despite the middle-order pressure from MI’s chase, Pant praised his team’s calmness. “Mentally, it was tough for all of us. They weren’t losing too many wickets — kudos to them — but we held our nerve and finished it off.”

Shardul Thakur, who bowled the all-important 19th over, gave away only 7 runs and helped seal the win. “He is amazing for us. Now I can say he has been an amazing pick. We need to back him,” Pant said, lauding the veteran all-rounder.

However, it was young Digvesh Singh Rathi who stole the spotlight with a composed spell of 1/21 in four overs. Awarded the Player of the Match, Rathi impressed with his control and poise under pressure.

“He is one of our leading bowlers. The way he’s holding his nerve — it’s really good to see a youngster perform like that,” Pant said proudly.

With the win, LSG continue to build momentum in IPL 2025 and move up the points table with confidence and composure.
