IPL 2025: Shardul Thakur’s 4-Wicket Haul Restricts SRH to 190 Despite Power Hitting
March 27, 2025: Hyderabad:
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) put up a fighting total of 190/9 in 20 overs despite a mid-innings collapse, as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowlers staged a remarkable comeback led by Shardul Thakur’s fiery 4-wicket spell in Match 7 of the Indian Premier League 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
After being asked to bat first by LSG skipper Rishabh Pant, SRH started aggressively, with Travis Head smashing a quickfire 47 off 28 balls, supported by brief cameos from Heinrich Klaasen (26 off 17) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (32 off 28).

However, SRH’s momentum was jolted early when Shardul Thakur dismissed both Abhishek Sharma and the in-form Ishan Kishan in the third over. Thakur returned later to pick up two more key wickets, finishing with 4/34 in 4 overs — his best figures in the tournament so far.
Prince Yadav also impressed with a disciplined spell (4-0-29-1), including the crucial wicket of Travis Head. SRH, despite losing wickets at regular intervals, stayed true to their attacking style with late fireworks from skipper Pat Cummins, who slammed 17 off 8 balls, including two sixes.
Despite the setback of regular dismissals, SRH posted a competitive total, setting a target of 191 for LSG to chase. The pitch continued to look good for batting, and the second innings promises to be a high-scoring thriller.
