IPL 2025: Shreyas Iyer Praises ‘Exceptional’ Prabhsimran as PBKS Jump to Second After 37-Run Win Over LSG

Punjab Kings skipper hails team’s all-round effort and lauds Prabhsimran Singh’s match-winning knock after dominating Lucknow Super Giants in Dharamshala.

Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), May 5:
Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer showered praise on Prabhsimran Singh and his teammates after a commanding 37-run win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. The victory lifted PBKS to second place on the IPL 2025 points table, with 15 points from 11 games.

Elated, to be honest. Everyone stepped up at the right time. The contribution was immense from each and every individual. Prabhs, the way he performed today, was exceptional,” Iyer said during the post-match presentation. “All the shots played were delightful to watch.”

Responding to a question about Punjab’s historically poor record at Dharamshala (5 wins in 13 previous matches), Iyer said he wasn’t aware and focused only on winning. “We’ve been lucky because of the hard work and commitment. Everyone knows their roles well. We just need to improve our on-field awareness and movement. Results matter – and that means winning.

Match Summary:

LSG won the toss and chose to bowl, but PBKS batters made them pay. Josh Inglis fired a 14-ball 30 to give an explosive start. Then, Prabhsimran Singh (91 off 45) and Shreyas Iyer (45 off 25) stitched a 78-run partnership for the third wicket. Prabhsimran later joined forces with Shashank Singh (33* off 15) to post a daunting 236/5 in 20 overs.

Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with 3/16, supported by Azmatullah Omarzai (2/33). Jansen and Chahal also took a wicket each.

With this victory, PBKS now sit at second spot, while LSG drop to seventh with 10 points from 11 matches.
