SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad) becomes the first team to breach the 250-run mark four times in T20 history, as Kishan and Head lead a power-packed demolition of RR (Rajasthan Royals).
Hyderabad, March 23: Sunrisers Hyderabad stamped their authority on T20 cricket in stunning fashion, setting a new benchmark by becoming the first team to score 250+ totals four times in the format. Their latest feat came in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), as they piled up a massive 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals at home.
SRH, known for their explosive batting displays, lit up the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium once again. The innings began with a brutal onslaught led by Abhishek Sharma, who tore into the Royals’ bowling attack with fearless stroke play. Partnering him was Travis Head, whose aggressive intent kept the scoreboard ticking at a breakneck pace.
After Abhishek’s dismissal, Ishan Kishan walked in and turned the momentum up another notch. Despite a shaky start, Kishan found his rhythm quickly, bringing up his fifty in just 25 balls and hammering his way to a breathtaking century in 45 deliveries. His innings turned the game on its head and had fans on their feet.
Post Kishan’s departure, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy kept the tempo alive, aiming for an unprecedented 300-run total. Though Rajasthan Royals managed to slow the run flow during the middle overs, SRH still powered their way to 286/6—one of the highest team totals in IPL history.
Chasing a near-impossible target, the Royals put up a spirited fight. Sanju Samson (66) and Dhruv Jurel (70) showed intent, crafting a steady counter-attack. Late fireworks from Shimron Hetmyer and Shubham Dubey added some drama, but the required run rate kept climbing. In the end, Rajasthan fell short by 44 runs.
This dominant performance reaffirms SRH’s status as one of the most dangerous batting sides in T20 cricket, and sets the tone for what promises to be an explosive IPL campaign.
