IPL 2025: SRH’s Bowlers Crush KKR as Klaasen’s Record Hundred Sets Up 110-Run Win

Kolkata Knight Riders collapse chasing 279 after Heinrich Klaasen’s fastest IPL hundred powers Sunrisers Hyderabad to third-highest total in IPL history.

New Delhi [India], May 26 – Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ended their IPL 2025 campaign with a crushing 110-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday. Failing to chase down SRH’s massive 279-run target, KKR were bowled out for 168 in 18.4 overs, finishing a disappointing season in eighth place.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, climbed to sixth in the standings, driven by a dazzling century from Heinrich Klaasen and an explosive fifty from Travis Head. Klaasen smashed the fastest hundred of IPL 2025, reaching three figures in just 37 balls, and remained unbeaten on 105. Head hammered 76 off 40 balls, as the duo powered SRH to 278/3 — the third-highest total in IPL history.

Skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat, and SRH’s openers came out firing. Abhishek Sharma and Head stormed past 50 in the fourth over, setting the tone for a huge total. Narine removed Sharma for 32 (16), but Head and Klaasen took control, racing to 150 by the 11th over and 250 by the 18th.

Narine was the pick of the KKR bowlers with 2/42, while Vaibhav Arora picked up the only other wicket.

In reply, KKR’s chase started brightly with an energetic 37-run opening stand between Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine. Narine looked in touch, smashing 31 off 16 balls before falling to Jaydev Unadkat. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane (15) and de Kock (9) followed soon after, as KKR stumbled to 70/5, with impact bowler Harsh Dubey and Eshan Malinga joining Unadkat in the wickets.

Manish Pandey (37) and Harshit Rana (34 off 21) offered some resistance, but the SRH bowling trio of Unadkat (3/24), Malinga (3/31), and Dubey (3/34) ensured KKR never looked in control. KKR ultimately folded for 168, underlining their inconsistency throughout the season.

The result wrapped up a forgettable campaign for Kolkata, marked by misfiring middle-order performances and lack of cohesion at crucial moments.

For SRH, the dominant win keeps their playoff hopes alive and capped off a thrilling night for fans in Delhi.
