IPL 2025: “Starc Nailed Every Yorker”: Axar Patel Praises Aussie Pacer After DC’s Super Over Win

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel lauds Mitchell Starc’s last-over brilliance as DC edges out Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025’s first Super Over thriller.

New Delhi, April 17: Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel hailed Mitchell Starc’s ice-cold execution under pressure, crediting the Aussie pacer’s pinpoint yorkers for taking the DC vs RR IPL 2025 clash into a Super Over—and ultimately, securing victory.

With Rajasthan Royals needing just 9 runs in the final over, Starc delivered 12 near-perfect yorkers, conceding only eight runs and dragging the match into a dramatic Super Over—the first of this IPL season.

“He bowled almost 12 yorkers. That’s why he’s such an Australian legend,” said Axar post-match. “He missed just one ball in terms of execution.”

💥 Super Over: Rahul, Stubbs Seal It in Style

In the tie-breaker, Delhi chased down 12 runs in just 4 balls, thanks to a composed effort by KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs, with Sandeep Sharma unable to contain the runs for RR.

🔍 Match Analysis by Axar:

Axar admitted Delhi’s batting had a slow start, but a boost came after the 12th over.

“We were talking during the strategic timeout. Batters said it wasn’t easy for new guys. But momentum shifted after the 13th over.”

He highlighted how gripping conditions made scoring difficult and emphasized adaptability and calm under pressure:

“When the set batter gets out, it’s hard for new players. If a couple of wickets fall, panic sets in. The pitch wasn’t allowing easy boundaries.”

Axar also opened up on his own form:

“I had a cut during the Champions Trophy and didn’t find rhythm. But when the team wins, confidence returns. I tried to set an example today—batting and bowling both went well.”

He concluded with a crucial insight:

“It was important to lose that one game earlier—it taught us valuable lessons.”

With momentum now back on Delhi’s side, Axar’s men will look to carry this confidence into their upcoming fixtures, buoyed by Starc’s brilliance, Stubbs’ composure, and a skipper who leads from the front.
