IPL 2025: Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes Second-Fastest IPL Century in Thrilling Chase Against Gujarat Titans

Despite Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler’s fifties powering GT to 209, Vaibhav’s blistering 101 off 38 balls stole the spotlight at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Vaibhav Survanshi lit up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium with an explosive innings, smashing the second-fastest century in IPL history. Survanshi reached his 100 in just 35 deliveries, hammering 7 fours and 11 towering sixes, before being dismissed for 101.

Earlier in the day, half-centuries from skipper Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler powered Gujarat Titans (GT) to a commanding 209/4 against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

After being put to bat first by RR, GT openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan provided a strong foundation with a 93-run stand. Playing risk-free cricket during the powerplay, the duo brought up GT’s 50 in just 5.4 overs and finished the six-over mark at 53/0.

Gill brought up his fourth fifty of the season in 29 balls, featuring four boundaries and a six. At the halfway stage, GT were well-placed at 92/0. However, Sai Sudharsan was dismissed for 39 (30 balls) soon after, caught brilliantly by Riyan Parag off Maheesh Theekshana’s bowling.

Gill continued to accelerate, forming a vital 74-run partnership with Jos Buttler. Gill’s fine knock of 84 off 50 balls, including five fours and four sixes, ended when Parag grabbed another catch at long-off.

Buttler then unleashed his fury, smashing 24 runs off Wanindu Hasaranga in a single over. He completed his quickfire half-century off just 26 balls, featuring three fours and four sixes. Contributions from Washington Sundar (13 off 8 balls) and Rahul Tewatia (9 off 2 balls) pushed GT past the 200-run mark, ending their innings at 209/4.

Theekshana (2/35) was the standout bowler for RR, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma picked up a wicket each.

Survanshi’s sensational ton — the second-fastest in IPL history — overshadowed the earlier innings and showcased Gujarat’s batting depth and aggression as they look to consolidate their spot in the playoff race.
