Virat Kohli Lauds RCB's Adaptability After Key Win Over Delhi Capitals
New Delhi, April 28:
Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s crucial six-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, RCB star batter Virat Kohli praised his team’s adaptability and collective effort, calling it a “top win” given the difficult surface.
RCB climbed to the top of the IPL 2025 points table with their seventh win of the season, powered by a 119-run partnership between Kohli and Krunal Pandya. Kohli scored a composed 51 off 47 balls, while Pandya remained unbeaten on a blistering 73 from 47 deliveries.
Reflecting on the match during the post-game presentation, Kohli said, “It was a top win, especially looking at the surface. This wicket played very differently to the other games. Whenever there is a chase on, I keep checking with the dugout if we are on course, what is my role, etc. Krunal… today was his day.”
Kohli explained that he focused on rotating strike aggressively, combining singles and doubles with timely boundaries. He credited Krunal Pandya for stepping up when the team needed him most and anticipated an even bigger impact from him as the tournament progresses.
Highlighting the importance of adaptability in IPL 2025, Kohli added, “This year, you can’t just come out and hit; you have to assess, understand the conditions, and then plan accordingly.”
Kohli also praised the team’s excellent communication and the depth in their batting lineup, mentioning the firepower provided by Romario Shepherd and Tim David at the back end. He commended world-class bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, acknowledging Bhuvi’s Purple Cap-winning performances, and appreciated Krunal Pandya’s contribution with the ball.
He concluded by backing young Suyash as a potential “dark horse,” citing his consistent efforts even if the wickets haven’t yet reflected it.
