IPL 2025: Watch: Ishant Sharma Explodes at Ashutosh Sharma in Heated Exchange During GT vs DC Clash

The fiery altercation in the 19th over of Delhi Capitals’ innings overshadowed an otherwise high-octane IPL 2025 match that saw Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 97 guide Gujarat Titans to a record-breaking chase.

Ahmedabad, April 20:
Tensions flared in the closing overs of the Gujarat Titans vs Delhi Capitals clash on Saturday night as veteran pacer Ishant Sharma was seen lashing out at Delhi’s Ashutosh Sharma during the 19th over of DC’s innings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The flashpoint came when Ishant bowled a sharp bouncer that zipped past Ashutosh and into wicketkeeper Jos Buttler’s gloves. While GT players were convinced the ball had grazed Ashutosh’s gloves, the on-field umpire disagreed. Ashutosh quickly signalled the ball had hit his shoulder, not his bat.

Ishant, however, was far from satisfied. The camera caught him walking up to Ashutosh and aggressively expressing his displeasure—prompting GT captain Shubman Gill to step in and diffuse the situation. The veteran pacer then took his complaints to the umpire and was still visibly agitated even after the innings wrapped up.

The drama overshadowed a thrilling IPL 2025 Match 35, where Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 97 off 54 balls led Gujarat Titans to a seven-wicket win over Delhi Capitals, chasing down 204 with four balls to spare. Buttler, despite battling cramps in the sweltering Ahmedabad heat, smashed 11 fours and four sixes, anchoring GT’s record chase.

Earlier, DC had posted 203/8, thanks to a balanced batting effort spearheaded by Axar Patel, Ashutosh Sharma, and Karun Nair. However, Prasidh Krishna’s 4/41 earned him the Purple Cap with a season tally of 14 wickets.

GT’s chase got off to a shaky start with Shubman Gill run out early, but Sai Sudharsan and Buttler steadied the ship. Sudharsan departed for 35, but Sherfane Rutherford and Buttler stitched a match-winning 119-run stand.

In a thrilling finish, Rahul Tewatia ensured there were no hiccups, smashing a six and a boundary off Mitchell Starc in the final over to seal the win.
