Iran launches 3rd wave of attacks at Israel

June 14, 2025: In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Israel launched a coordinated and high-impact strike on Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure on Friday, targeting critical facilities and eliminating several top-ranking Iranian generals and nuclear scientists. The assault involved both warplanes and drones, some of which were reportedly smuggled into Iran earlier, signaling deep strategic planning.

This offensive was described by Israel as a “preemptive measure” to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has long characterized as an existential threat to the Jewish state.

Iran’s Response: Missile Barrage Over Israel

Iran retaliated swiftly and forcefully. Dozens of ballistic missiles were launched toward Israeli cities, including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, lighting up the night skies with explosions and triggering widespread panic. Sirens blared as Israeli defense systems intercepted several projectiles, though damage reports are still incoming.

The Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a televised address, vowed that Israel would not “escape this crime unpunished.” Iran’s UN Ambassador confirmed that at least 78 people were killed and over 320 wounded in the initial wave of Israeli attacks. Most of the casualties are believed to be military personnel, including key figures within the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

U.S. Involvement and Regional Implications

Amid fears of a broader regional war, a U.S. official confirmed that American air defense systems deployed in the Middle East were actively intercepting Iranian projectiles aimed at Israel. The U.S. continues to provide strategic military support to its key ally while urging restraint on both sides.

Friday night and early Saturday saw another wave of aerial sirens and loud blasts in Jerusalem, suggesting a potential second round of missile strikes or ongoing interception activity.

What’s at Stake?

The strikes mark one of the most direct and deadly confrontations between the two long-standing adversaries, intensifying fears of a full-scale regional war. With the Israeli military on high alert and Iran vowing continued retaliation, the international community is closely monitoring the situation.

Global markets, energy prices, and diplomatic relations are expected to be impacted in the coming days as both sides weigh their next moves.
