Reports say daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter died in US-Israel strikes
March 1, 2026: Iranian media on Sunday reported that family members of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei were killed in strikes allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel. The semi-official Fars News Agency said it had confirmed the deaths of Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter after contacting sources within his household. Other Iranian outlets reportedly carried similar accounts. There has been no independent verification of these claims.
The reports surfaced hours after US President Donald Trump announced that the 86-year-old Khamenei had been killed in a military operation launched on Saturday. In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the development as “Justice” and said heavy and “pinpoint bombing” would continue as long as necessary. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also stated that there were indications suggesting Khamenei was “no longer alive,” claiming Israeli forces had destroyed his compound earlier in the day.
The situation remains fluid amid ongoing military exchanges in the region. With conflicting statements and no independent confirmation, uncertainty continues to surround the reported deaths as tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States escalate further.
