Iran Port Explosion: 14 Dead, 750 Injured As Massive Blast Rocks Shahid Rajaee Port

A devastating explosion at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port in the southern province near Bandar Abbas has killed at least 14 people and injured 750 others, plunging the region into chaos on Saturday.

Thick black smoke enveloped Iran’s largest commercial port and neighboring areas as firefighting helicopters battled blazes fed by strong winds. Schools and offices in Bandar Abbas — located over 20 km away — were shut down as a precaution.

  8. Shahid Rajaee Port is Iran’s most modern container terminal and lies near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route.
  9. The explosion has raised concerns amid delicate nuclear negotiations between Iran and the US, with recent diplomatic talks held in Oman reportedly making progress.
  10. Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the blast while monitoring the structural integrity of the port.
